Prores color depth

Doing some testing with prores export using after effects I noticed that there is an option for color depth... Millions or trillions ... I did a test comparison and surprisingly the trillions export was smaller with all the other settings being exact. Then I decided to export the exact file out of premiere with my settings I use for prores (in premiere you can't choose trillions but you can pick 48 bit depth). That file is in between the other two in size.

Anyone else mess with this stuff or does it even matter? Visually all the files look exactly the same when played back at full res and 100%.

What about 400%?

What codec are you using these days mizzy?

Still exporting uncompressed then transcoding to ProresHG with Footage Studio. I have done a few renders using PJPEG with the new iteration of AE and it looks good (no color shift) but I think the PR plays back better. Haven't done tests for banding, etc, lately ... but I only do tests when I discern a problem.

I see problems if they exist at 400%. I am happy when I don't see them. If it's good enough for that, it's good enough.

How are you doing real prores? You go apple?

Have you done any tests with some gradient? Like a blue sky?
Maybe that's where you would see a difference with color depth.

Personally I use trillions. Why limit the color?
If they gave me a number higher I would use that.
