Help me select the best small HD traveling camera for video!

Hello fellow Pond5-ers. I am traveling from Bangkok to Singapore overland for a couple weeks. Normally, when I work I have some version of a newsgathering video camera - but this is just for fun and adventure. But I would like the smallest most versatile "tourist" camera I can buy for those shots I know I am going to regret not having a camera on hand for. Your suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! Terry

Sony RX-10 II did very well for me until my Canon 1DX MK II and 5D MK IV

DJI Osmo. Fine stabilizator gimbal in 3 directions, axis. Decent video quality. Search on net for details. Pleasant trip and lots of nice clips!

The RX100 m4 is the better buy plus functionality.

I've heard good things about the Panasonic GX85 (built in 5 axis stabilization, interchangeable lenses, $600). The Sony RX100 is a solid choice but you can't switch lenses like the Panasonic so you might not end up using it for stock as much.

Panasonic GH4. If that's still too big go with the Sony RX100 M4 or new M5. The menu system is a bit of a pain with the Sony though - just my humble opinion.

If I had to choose from all my cameras, for stock, and could only keep one, it would be the RX100m4. I'd get the m5 for longer slowmo options though. It is the camera that is here (breast pocket) NOW, on and shooting in seconds, great options and quality. The FS700 RAW is great, but huge, the Osmo RAW (with X5R) is rad, but takes too long to deploy from "off" condition, and you look like a geek (I am, but that's not in question), anything with interchangeable lenses add bulk and complexity (yes, better for IQ and options, but then they are always bigger) ... NOTHING beats the RX series for balance of quality and functionality and size. In fact, of all my cams, I'd say I've made more money more easily from the RX100 (m2, m3, m4) shots I've made. Its big downside is the 3x zoom, but geez, you can't have everything.

I second that... the RX100 is a fine camera with amazing image quality, excellent auto focus if it's needed, and lightning fast deployment. Plus it's shoots 1080/120p, in addition to it's high frame rate modes. 4K is limited to 30p of course. Again, it's main drawback is in it's focal lengths, but for a broad variety of shooting, it does exceptionally well...
