Been in Pond 5 for over a year no sales.

I've got almost 400 images in pond 5 but virtually no views and certainly no sales.

Is that the normal experience

i have just over 600 images on the site and last sale was December last year 150 videos and a handful of sales this year, i guess more of a video selling site than stills

With over 20 million photos and more than 12 million footage clips online it will take time with a very small portfolio to be noticed.

Mike, I have been active on Pond5 for just 2-3 months, but I have more than 450 videos uploaded. No sales so far. However, this is a long-term game, so I will keep uploading. Fortunately, I have thousands of video clips that I've shot over the years, so all I have to do is find them and upload them.

Think of it as an investment in your future. As with most investments, it pays little or nothing to begin with. Returns happen over time, and that's what I see is the way it works here.

Good luck!

Same here, 500+ portfolio and 3 months (only photos). Zero downloads and some views, like 15. But I'm an average photographer so maybe that's the thing. As pvreditor said, I think it's a long-term game.

You are competing against over 12 million videos with only 17? Shoot, edit & upload & make harder the life of the rest of us on Pond5 :)
JDMStockMedia 30 Sep 2018 14:37
@ionescu: My thoughts exactly, shoot edit upload and be patient. Massive respect to you too, more than 27.000 clips, mind blowing achievement from you and many others on here who have such an incredible portfolio, years and years of patience it must have taken to get this far.

Good luck to everyone and hang in there, i have been lucky to have sold clips on Pond5 and hope you all do soon!

My first thought here is if I didn't have a sale in that long of a time or any time for that matter I'd start shooting something else.
Look at your subjects and how many there are already on this site.
Shoot something different or better than the other guy.

As to the competing against 12 million. I've never subscribed to that argument.
I personally don't compete against every video on this site.

Look at your subject and keywords and how many there are in that subject, that's your competition.
That number still may be staggering but won't be in the millions.

Guys can you check on my videos and see if this is good kind of footage to shoot? I was active for a few months uploading daily, now I have over 100 videos (close to 200 on SS but I didn't tag everything yet and might leave the bad clips out), now I had a month break to solve some stuff in my life, however I get only couple of views, like 2 or 3 on the most popular videos and been here for a few months, still no sales.

I guess I'm wondering if it's because it's a long term thing and I need higher quantity of nice clips and wait longer or maybe I'm just shooting wrong stuff? Need to get back into it, just looking for opinions to see if I'm on the right track.

rasomaso, I haven't made any sales here either, but I'm in it for the long term. I've been uploading 10 or so files a day and now have nearly 500 videos. Obviously (since I have no sales) I'm not an expert, but my impression is that the more content you upload, the better your chances are that you'll get sales.

I looked at many of your videos and like what you've got. I think your stuff is good. Don't get discouraged and give up -- you will find buyers eventually.
