So Jake what do you think of using an adapter and Canon lenses on the pocket? For years I've always believed that the glass is as important as the camera. Now it seems photogs are buying any MFT lens they can find to use on the pocket. Is the lens no longer a big factor like the past or a compromise camera deserves a compromised lens? (compromise doesn't mean bad, just smaller sensor and cheaper price).

Hey Don,
I'm right there with you. I think the glass is the most important part.
I wish I could use my Canon and Zeiss lenses but since they are EF mount I would need an active mft adaptor and currently the only one I know that has been tested and works great is the one from RedRock Micro. It's also $550 I think.

So I bought a Panasonic Lumix 12-35 2.8 to use. It came with some great reviews and a few people already shot some short films using it on the Pocket camera that looked amazing.

Since this camera will be to compliment to my C300 I doubt I'll buy any other lenses.
A while back I bought a used C mount lens to use with the camera but I don't think I will.

Received the BMC pocket camera today!

Quick shot with the pocket camera at my desk.
I didn't have the lens stabilizer turned on so its a little shaky but shows not much jello effect.

Quick test of the pocket camerahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHo7cXt-oZw

I graded it in After Effects for contrast and white balance. The original footage is really washed out looking. Even more than my C300 because of the dynamic range of the camera.

It shoots some really large files. about 350 meg for 14 seconds
Battery life as was reported is pretty poor. Went from 100% to 85% in a matter of minutes just playing with it.
But the battery that came with the camera is an 800mah, I bought 2 1800mah batteries so I think that should work for most of what I shoot.

The iris button quickly sets the exposure depending on the zebra settings. I set the camera at 100% IRE That works great.

The focus button is crap. At least on this lens. I'm reading on the forums that the autofocus either doesn't work at all or focuses so slow that its unusable.
The autofocus wasn’t a big deal for me, but would have been good for a quick shot without having to manually focus.
Maybe they will fix that in a firmware update.

Manually focusing it is pretty easy as it has some bright green peaking lines that surround anything in focus.
I’m going to shoot some stuff this weekend. Also test using it on green screen.

Awesomely jealous but thanks much for the update!

Got mine yesterday! (Toronto, Canada) First impressions are very positive! The build quality is amazing and it feels very solid in your hand. I concur with kk5hy that the iris button is almost instant and the auto focus is SLOOOW.

There are lots of things missing in the firmware but that will come with time I'm sure. It is also very picky with SD cards. I formatted a fast class 10 that I use with my EX1 and it wasn't even recognized. Luckily I had purchased a couple of the Sandisk Extreme Pro in anticipation of the arrival.

Now I just have to figure out what lenses I'll need.

Has anyone else had a problem with the lens mount? I didn't have any lenses yet so I borrowed a Lumix pancake lens from a friend and it seemed a little tight going on. I couldn't get it off! Had to use a rubber band to get enough grip to twist it off. Something isn't right here.

Anyone else have this issue?

Update: It looks like it was a lens issue. Got another lens and it works fine.

My Lumix 12-35 works fine.
I did try the lens I bought a while ago that uses a C mount to MFT adaptor and it was pretty tight getting it off.
I felt like something was going to break if it was any tighter getting off.
I'm not trying that lens anymore, its in my to be Ebay'ed pile.

If you go to the bmcuser.com site they have a thread of lenses that people have used and works.
