BLACKMAGIC POCKET CINEMA CAMERA

Hate learning new cameras after so many years with Canon. Then the DiVinci ... well a big learning curve. I need to be patient and give them both a chance.

You don't have to learn DiVinci just to make it look good. Any decent editing program will have the tools to tweak the clips. For the most part just levels or curves. Anyway, learning keeps your brain at least somewhat alive. Hopefully...

Ya, for now I'll stick with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Affects CS6. I'll play with DiVinci to see if it's more capable for basic stock or not. It has to be faster and easier or it's a no go. My feelings is most stock footage should not take more than a minute or two at the most to process. I hope I can keep my brain somewhat alive for a few more years. This stock thing is my wife's retirement when I'm gone so need to keep working on it as much as possible.

There is a difference how the camera works depending on the settings you choose, if you select video as your filming option then when the camera switches on it goes to the widest aperture your lens has. Choosing film does almost the opposite, it sets the correct exposure on start up. This also effects the brightness of the rear LCD, I'm sure you are finding this out by playing with the camera. Set the rear LCD brightness to100% for more visibility.

When I bring clips into Sony Vegas it sees them as 30i

A frame grab from the Pocket camera. 1600asa with some noise reduction. But pretty sharp and takes color grading really well.

Indeed a very sharp frame grab and great DOF. The more I play with it the more I see it a studio type camera where a controlled setup and lighting is easier. Still playing with it before final review as a walk around stock type shooter.

Wow that is nice.

What kind of lighting do you use?
JHDT_Productions 20 Oct 2013 02:42
I was playing with the lighting for more from my old western concept.
Basically the scene is lit from the right with a 150 watt fresnel spot and another putting a splash of light on the back.
But I had some window light coming in so its brighter than I want.

It will be about the same as this shot. (Taken with the c300)

Lens?
JHDT_Productions 20 Oct 2013 12:41
Panasonic 12-35mm 2.8

Here is one of the shots from the pocket cam.
I'm using it on the crane. The camera is so small it only takes 2 pounds to balance it. The C300 takes about 15 pounds.
