This one is really pushing the low light limit of that little camera. I had to use noise reduction on it. But I'm really happy how well it holds up.
Since the limit is 1600iso there is only so much you can do with it.

Also the lamp flicker was added in After Effects. I couldn't get the oil lamps to flicker on their own.

Using it on the crane is something I was thinking about as well. My EX1R takes 27 lbs to balance.... Mine should get here Thursday.

Is there any advantage to produce clips with Avid DNxHD instead of photo jpeg?

@kk5hy - Do you feel that the pocket is a good B-cam to carry along in your bag when you have plenty of time to take a shot?

Definitely. It grades very well and as I had hoped it compliments the C300 in look.

Damn this is a pain in the A$$ color grading using Premiere Pro CS3 on outdoor shots with movement. Stationary shots are no problem but a POV driving through a parking lot with autumn color leaves is a real pain. Can't use any auto adjustments due to flicker induced. Much more that when using the 5D MK II or III. Auto color makes it look GREAT but induces far too much flicker. Like Jake said, this data is very flat and un-useable without color, saturation, contrast adjustments. Still trying to recover the shots.

So I don't sound too negative. For fixed shots (versus moving POV type shooting) it does very well. The capture is very sharp and well defined. Still my feeling, don't replace a good Canon to get one. This is a discrete small camera with good capability but for grab and shoot type artists it's not the best option.

You can shoot in video mode. You still get most of the dynamic range but less time color grading.
Yes, it's a huge learning curve to color grade.

I always use the build in ColorFinesse plugin from within AfterEffects its much more powerful when it comes to color correction and grading. Also it has really good scopes.
