In hopes that the blooming issue is a firmware fix, I'm not going to cancel my pocket camera order. There is so much great looking footage from that camera I'll see if it is something I can work around.
If not, B&H has a 30 day return policy.

Jake, thanks for posting that link to the Sony PXW-Z100. I'm looking to upgrade my EX1 soon and something with a mega bit-rate and 4k would be superb especially since I have a lot of broadcast clients. Will do some more research into that camera.

Funny you should mention stealth TE, I went into China to film a typhoon a couple of weeks ago and deliberately took a 5D since I didn't want to look like a pro - it worked a treat and I didn't get arrested :)

You missed out James, getting arrested is half of the fun of going to China! Unless you have your footage erased of course.

This camera looks very interesting, now that I'm also thinking of changing gear. It might look a bit too 'pro' to film in some areas in the world though. I also wonder if my current computer hardware can handle 4k, and if the price of the 450 euros 64GB memory cards will come down.

Can't seem to find any reference if the PXW-Z100 does 24p or not.

I think it says it here:

10-bit 4:2:2 intraframe codec with a manageable data rate of 240Mbps at 4K 24FPS -

Thanks Jake - I hope that is the case and it isn't firmware blocked on this camera to protect the higher F5 and F55.

Definitely got my attention. I was all hot for the PMW-300 but will now have to reconsider...

:-/ Too expensive for me and not "inconspicuos" but the BBCC is a big cement block so it isn't "inconspicuos" either.

Just decided to cancel my pre-order for the Blackmagic 4K camera. Given the number of issues with the first two cameras (even allowing for negativity bias) I think it makes more sense to wait at the minute and maybe hire the Sony to test next month.
