Something must be not right. It's 200 mbps in FHD and only 100 MBPS in 4k?

Shame on them it has only 8 Bit 4:2:0 internal recording. Come on it's 2014 we know that internal recording with 10 Bit 4:2:2 in a broadcast format is possible - look at BMPCC and XF100.

I've read that it will be priced around 1999$ which is kewl. Look at the new sony 4k camcoder 1999$ also.

As tempting as it is. I'm sick of 8 bit 4.2.0
I'll wait for something else. Probably the BMC 4K production.(whenever it comes out)
I don't think you could beat the 12 bit 4.2.2 ProRes
JHDT_Productions 7 Feb 2014 12:25
I read with the XLR / SDI adapter you can record 4.2.2 10bit to an external recorder.
That is a little better but too much stuff to connect and carry around.
Does it say any place how much the XLR adapter will sell for?

i agree, BMC will be a better BUT more expensive solution.
We shall see

Once you buy the GH4 + XLR / SDI adapter + the external recorder you are over the BMCC 4K price point. The only advantage I see is that the GH4 may offer more menú options and I love to be able to see through the eyepiece in sunny days.

Panasonic, please increase your 4k internal mp4 bit rate to at least 140 mps.

Nevertheless the BMCC 4k has a bigger sensor and 800 mbs.

It's almost but not quite, still looking for a DSLR for video and photos that is top quality and now 4K. BMCC 4K is still looking good and the pocket cinema gives a lot for $999.
JHDT_Productions 7 Feb 2014 14:13
Yes once you buy the external recorder that can handle 4K you are at the $7000 price point.
Quite a bit over the BMC

I am trying to get specs directly from Panasonic but I can't find it.
