Great move by SS and P5, both real fair agencies .... They both formally announced that "... they would not accept any further 4K footage until Rekindle receives his camera and has at least 250 4K approved and online. And at that point they would only accept 4K on a ration basis at one half of Rekindles 4K uploads."

Great companies ... thanks for the help ;)

Posted by a retailer on another site:

Alister Chapman took the PXW-Z100 for a spin while in town for our workshop. The card had 25GB of footage but I deleted some of the files and left eight clips. I zipped it up and put it on media fire for you to download and try out in your own system. The video is of downtown Austin. Last weekend was winter. Yes. Winter only lasts one weekend here. This is it. Go to this page and scroll down. Download time depends on how fast your connection is. This file is 2.5GB.

The more you talk about the new Sony cameras the more incline I am to wait for the BMCC 4k. The BMCC with the pancake Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM Lens will look like a shoebox with a hole or some sort of camera from the 19th century. People in front will see a box and think it is a new heavy weight tablet and not a pro camera. But that is a project for mid 2014 after they fix the usual product introduction issues.

I think that for severe weather and thunder storms, I am better off with the BMCC.

Those Sony FS700 users (Dapoopta and Motion Poland), ¿are you going to buy your 4k upgrades?

I see the same problem in the footage that markoconnell linked to as I do in my own test shoots.

Not encouraging!

Sorry to hear of this kind of test result/response. Can't see the footage because I'm over my bandwidth allotment this month already. I will say that the camera's likeness to the venerable Z5 is great - it's awesome for fast changes and manual in-control feeling that has gotten me lots of shots where the FS700 or DSLR options were not so good. However the quality, if it is anything like the Z5/V1 (HDV) in comparison to "real" HD cams (like the EX1/3/R - which is even better config for ENG and reality shooting - wish they had kept that config!) is not worth getting into. Based on my experiences I can say if you go for this now you'll wish you hadn't - if not right away, then in 4 months or whenever a better (similar) camera more likely to hold its value comes up.

I think the 20xG lens on these things is the exact same lens as the Z5. (needs confirmation) In fact, my Z5 got its lens replaced (three times!?!) and since they don't make the original Z5 G lens anymore, I had to wait. Also consider quality - why is it that I had to get the damn thing replaced 3 times (not due to damage, but to malfunction and bad tech).

Be wary.

@TheEngineer I'm sorry to see that. Noise all over the image. If you are looking to grow your 4K library I think not worth the effort. If you downsize from 4K to HD maybe will work for you.

B&H has Sony Z-100 in stock.
dapoopta 17 Dec 2013 04:27
From all these issues people are having with the z100 I wonder if it's worth looking at other options right now don.
