Sev,

Looked back and I now see your "purple fringing" remark.

I must get my eyes tested again ;-) and pay more attention!

The CA does suck and you have to really be aware of that. I shot with the camera all day today and had a couple of shots that really looked great. Wonderful image. I'll look at 'em fresh tomorrow and get back to ya.

The owner of Blackmagic Design shot some test footage with BMD 4K camera and share to the public so we can check and play with the footage. You can download the 4K test footage from http://video.blackmagicdesign.com/Camera/Blackmagic_Production_Camera_4K_Shots.zip. It's a big zip file 8.5GB!!!

If anybody's wondering, I'm keeping the Z100. I think it's the best option available at the moment for my style of shooting. It's the best fit for my needs.

Here is an interesting article that comes from Alister Chapman - reviews and compares: http://www.xdcam-user.com/2013/12/a-tale-of-two-cameras-the-pmw-300-and-pxw-z100-reviewed/

Thanks for the link, good info. I like his comment: "The 4K from the Z100 looks not just sharper than the footage from the PMW-300 on a 4K screen but clearly shows more detail. The 300 looks soft on a large 4K screen compared to the Z100."

So I guess the real answer is ... if you want HD there are lots of choices, if you want 4K it's one of the better ones available under $10,000.

It's the... dawn of a new age...

(Shameless self promotion)

Very nice shots. DSLRs still rule for time lapse.

Just got my Z-100. Unboxed and wow what a lot of buttons to play with and learn. Like stepping back in time about five years ago when I was using video cameras instead of dslr. I purchased a 32 Gb card and was kinda surprised to see Sony included one with the camera. Feel much better with memory now with 64 Gb auto switching capability.
.
Now to try to figure out how to even use these 4K files in Premier Pro CS6.
