Neat Video

Who is using Neat Video noise reduction? I've used in on photos and it does a great job, much better than Adobe Photoshop noise reduction. If you are using it with the Pro plugin in After Effects or Premier Pro CS6 tell us about what you think. I understand it's a different plugin for Premiere than After Effects. Does it work fast, does a good job without softening the clip. Was a worthwhile purchase?

I use Red Giant's Denoiser. That works great with no noticeable softening of the video.
The new version is pretty fast as it uses the video cards GPU as long as you have a compatible video card.

I love Neat. Definitely a worthwhile purchase. I use it for Vegas Pro and for AE. (two purchases both well worth it!) It causes a longer render time, exactly how much seems variable, but if you want I could do a quick test. I believe it is also GPU capable (for faster) renders. Don't quote me on that. Plenty of control. One funky thing about it is that the demo does not allow you to have the same functionality as the purchased version. However, there are many ways to tweak it, r you can run it in auto. (I always tweak). I also appreciate the three-band sharpening. After tweakage, adding a small amount of sharpening (since I shoot with sharpening off anyway) is a good thing, and easy on/off direct comparison allows for you to see the effect each adjustment has, at 400% magnification.
After working with it for a while I have it to the point where it is a basic, important part of my workflow (I don't always use it, but I no longer fear the noise!)
Send me an email if you want - I might have some frame grabs (or can make them). mizamook at gee mail

Last year I've put a short tutorial on youtube about optimizing HDSLR footage via NeatVideo:

At 2:37 you can see how NeatVideo blends the artifacting of H264 and makes it much much better.

I know this is a month old thread, but I use Neat Video for AE, and absolutely love it. It does a very good job of keeping detail and is my choice for Noise Reduction.

Using it too (on Mac), tried Red Giant Denoiser 2 and found Neat Video to give better results, faster, without bugs.
