Lost Another One - Damn!

So any of you all music creators know the thing that happens when you're screwing around with sounds and ideas, setting out to create this or that, or perhaps work out another part for something,or facing the terror of the blank page, so to speak, and you play something freaking genius and then you hit record and find that whatever ephemeral magic you just had is simply GONE?

There should be some kind of benevolent historian god code to set up on the computer so that you can go back and recover the last, say, 3 minutes or (setting varies by user) to recover these moments.

If it was really cool this program would capture input by whatever device, whether it be input to the audio interface, analog or digital, or MIDI.

Any ideas? Maybe there is something already but I don't know how to ask Google.

Anyway, it's always the stupid simple moments that flit away so easily...the ones that would be nothing but for a subtle change of phrasing that creates a cool mood or whatever, but dammit, it's just...gone.

why dont you let the machine record constantly in loop?
when im searchin for a solo or a bass line, i sometimes do that...
whatever idea u have, u got it write it down immediately,
dont rely on your memory

I've started doodling around while keeping record on the midi track / audio track. It helps. But yeah, I feel you man
