Anamorphic?

Hey guys,
Is a 720x480 16:9 clip with a 1.2:1 pixel aspect ratio considered anamorphic? I only ask because I have dozens of them from my older camera and I want to make sure I tagged them correctly. I'm pretty sure they're not native 16:9 because they appear vertically squashed unless I turn on "aspect ratio correction" in After Effects. I know there is a format that automatically inserts letterboxing when needed and I thought that was what "anamorphic" meant until I really looked at the tagging options recently. Little help? Thanks.
