How does being a stock footage model affect an aspiring actor's career?

It's been mentioned in other forums and newspaper articles how being a stock photo model can affect a model's chances of going professional (in terms of not being able to be exclusive to a brand or competitors being able to use the same model). And there have been cases of this happening.

I'm wondering how would being a stock model for footage affect an aspiring actor/actress's career? Especially with many footage references suggesting we find models at acting schools, etc. So far I haven't come across any examples of this happening. What are your thoughts?

I can't imagine a case where an aspiring model or beginning model's career could be hurt by being in Royalty-free footage or photos. I've used models in the past who have gone on to great national success. I've never heard of a client wanting or demanding exclusivity to a point that a model cannot have any previous modeling experience, in the RF realm, or other. Maybe other people have had different experiences?

I had an experience where one of my actors had issues with his 'agent' because he had been shooting stock with me. It devalued his image is what they said.

I also had another actor have some of his stuff used in some sort of drug commercial or disease commercial that made him upset. There is risk involved in everything you do when you put your picture out there. Be honest with them and tell them you don't know where they end up. Pay them well so they commit to that risk.

I use actors that are in it for the hobby so probably not any chance of them making it big.
I know Scott mentioned about what that agent said. Maybe something in that or maybe bull from the agent since he wasn't getting his cut.

For anything that could be used in a negative way I only shoot those videos using me as the actor. Since I really don't give a rats ass and it's all about the money.

My main actor model is having an incredible hard time finding legitimate or high paying jobs.

I have used models that now appear in major Hollywood productions. I can say without a doubt, I am the reason for their success!!
