Lo-fi

With the resurgence in lo-fi and toy camera photography and videography, why not make that a feature on Pond5?

It seems that every stock footage marketplace on the web 'specializes' in HD footage. I think it would be great if Pond5 would expand it's customer base by making a category that exclusively caters to artists and designers. Or more specifically..........lo-fi, grainy, imperfect footage.
Not everyone wants perfect. How about it?

There is already a lot of lo-fi, grainy and imperfect footage here. Too much more of it and I feel serious buyers will get tired of looking through the crap to find what they want. Maybe a separate search category for "good" footage then those buyers who want lo-fi can look at the rest ;) P5 already accepts far more than any other agency in the world, many long term artists feel that the approval process needs to be tightened up and a lot more rejections would be good.
Great idea, I just don't think it's a good idea.

I take it you have some lo-fi, grainy, imperfect footage you want to offload?

Honestly, I think that would be the end of this site as a viable professional stock solution.
Anyone with a point and shoot shaky underexposed footage could upload? This place would be a youtube in days.
Everyone wants perfect, don't fool yourself.

Whatever.

I want to see artsy, quality lo-fi. Not a bunch of underexposed, shaky, poorly composed crap. (although done right, can be nice)

This video is a fine example of what I'm discussing. And yes, there IS a market for it.

I don't think either I or Jake told you not to submit anything. You are completely free to submit anything you want and I'm sure P5 will approve them. I am not judging your example as good or bad or even if it can sell or not. Like Jake said the more low quality crap that is approved here will lead to buyers going elsewhere. There is a big difference between what many think is lo-fi and sell-able and true quality.
.
I would go back to a suggestion I have made, separate search of video footage and computer generated, computer modified, CG or animations. Then products like your example will have a great search criteria and bunch the lo-fi into specific search results. No problem, put lo-fi into a completely separate criteria that caters to lower quality buyers.
Not sure why you asked the question, you and others have always had the opportunity to submit what you asked about.
