Description

The Cabezo Gordo mountain is composed mainly of Triassic marble and is situated on the coastal plain of the Murcia region of Spain close to the Mar Menor lagoon. It is an important paleontological and archaeological site where Paleozoic and Cenozoic remains have been uncovered. Excavations at 'La Sima de las Palomas' or chasm of doves have yielded numerous specimens of neanderthal hominids, fauna and flint tools. This time-lapse footage emphasizes the relative stasis of the mountain in a changing landscape as clouds swirl by in the blue sky. A field of artichokes is seen growing in the foreground.

Location: San Javier, Murcia, Spain
