HARRISON, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES (JULY 30, 2012) (REUTERS) RED BULLS TIM CAHILL WALKING WITH RED BULLS HEAD COACH HANS BACKE VARIOUS OF CAHILL STANDING WITH BACKE PHOTOGRAPHERS CAHILL STANDING WITH RED BULLS TEAM JERSEY THEN SOCCER BALL SIGN READING "#17 TIM CAHILL" SIGN READING "THE NEW YORK RED BULLS WELCOME #17 TIM CAHILL" CAHILL AND BACKE SITTING AT NEWS CONFERENCE JOURNALISTS (SOUNDBITE) (English) TIM CAHILL, NEW YORK RED BULLS DESIGNATED PLAYER, SAYING: "You know when I had the phone call to have the opportunity to play for the Red Bulls, I knew in my heart that if I ever left Everton that I would never play for another Premier League team out of respect for the chairman, the fans and also the manager. As a footballer, I suppose, I've achieved a hell of a lot in my career but also I feel that this is a big move for me. I know a lot of people might think otherwise, but I'm 32 years old, I respect the MLS, I'm coming here at a good age, I'm fit and I'm ready for a new challenge. That's something that's very special for not only me, but for my family, and I'm going to be playing with one of the biggest superstars on the planet and that's Thierry Henry and I think for me, I have see the vision as well as the people from the MLS and the Red Bulls to try to make this a good club on and off the park and also create pathways and opportunities for kids who strive to be footballers. So for myself, very simple beginnings, nothing special. I work hard. I give everything and one thing I'm going to do for the Red Bulls is put my heart and soul into it." CAMERAMEN (SOUNDBITE) (English) HANS BACKE, NEW YORK RED BULLS HEAD COACH, SAYING: "As a team, most of the teams in this league are a little bit inconsistent. I think with Tim's signing, we will have a central midfield and hopefully then the team can be more consistent, even with still winning the eastern conference, it's up to us and in our hands if we want to win this this year. We definitely have the talent for it." BACKE AND CAHILL SEATED (SOUNDBITE) (English) TIM CAHILL, NEW YORK RED BULLS DESIGNATED PLAYER, SAYING: "It's the greatest years of my life. To have 15 years in England playing in the most powerful league in the world was really special I think. The rapport that I had with the fans and the loyalty towards them and what it meant to be blue was really special. I did really find it hard to even acknowledge offers for the Premiership from other clubs and to even entertain it because leaving and playing against a club you love is very difficult." JOURNALIST (SOUNDBITE) (English) TIM CAHILL, NEW YORK RED BULLS DESIGNATED PLAYER, SAYING: "It's simple. This is a massive move for me. Moving to the A-League, in all fairness would be a step backwards and that's no disrespect. It's basically, I want to still play at a high level. There is still another World Cup for me to play in and to qualify for for the Australian team. This is a massive opportunity, so I didn't speak to any A League clubs and it was never in my plans. The one thing that I do in Australia is I create pathways for kids to follow their dreams in my soccer clinics and I make sure that they know that if a kid like me can make it then they have opportunities. So I think I'm more interested in the grassroots of the football in Australia and not playing there." PHOTOGRAPHERS CAHILL LEAVING
