WARSAW, POLAND (RECENT) (REUTERS) MAN RIDING BICYCLE IN WARSAW OLD TOWN WINDOWS OF SHOE SHOP OWNED BY ROMAN MARKOWSKI WIDE OF SHOP'S INTERIORS CUSTOMER LOOKING AT SHOES SHOES ON SHELF (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) SHOP OWNER, ROMAN MARKOWSKI, SAYING: "My company obviously felt the economic slowdown, a sad but true example would be that the retail brand which I built over 20 years has declared bankruptcy last month. The symptoms could be seen since 2009, when banks have reduced the number of loans, began to closely monitor the finances of companies and, frankly, took the first chance they got to inhibit or just withdraw the loans." SHOES ON SHELVES (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) SHOP OWNER, ROMAN MARKOWSKI, SAYING: "After 20 years of work, I am thinking more about having some small business, like running 2 or 3 shops, instead of expanding it again. Something that took 20 years to built cannot be rebuilt in the next 20." PEOPLE IN FRONT OF SHOPPING CENTRE VARIOUS OF PEOPLE INSIDE SHOPPING CENTRE (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) BZWBK BANK SENIOR ECONOMIST, PIOTR BIELSKI, SAYING: "At the beginning of 2012 the Polish economy was barely growing. The annual tempo of growth decreased to half a percent. So, for Poland that was a strong decrease in economic growth. But I think that one can have hope that the strongest wave of economic slowdown is passing and in the coming quarters we will see higher economic growth." VARIOUS OF PEOPLE ON ESCALATOR IN SHOPPING CENTRE VIEW OF STREET PEOPLE ON STREET (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) WARSAW RESIDENT, MILENA BAZYL, SAYING: "I think crisis can be felt in some way, one has to limit various pleasures he allowed himself in the past and to choose holidays in Poland rather than abroad, to eat at home rather than out more often, this is maybe how the crisis can be felt. But I don't feel it very strong myself." PEOPLE ON STREET (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) WARSAW RESIDENT, MARTA SZYMKOWIAK, SAYING: "I think that this year is especially bad for me when it comes to finances, so if we are talking about an economic crisis, than I definitely feel it."
