Here is a political T-shirt of prisoners in Belarus. On the back there is a list of political prisoners, it includes eight people and among them there is my name." JOURNALISTS (SOUNDBITE) (Belarussian) ALES BELYATSKI, SAYING: "I'm going to cross out my name. (CROSSES OUT HIS NAME) Now we have one political prisoner less in Belarus." CAMERA (SOUNDBITE) (Belarussian) ALES BELYATSKI, SAYING: "Nothing can be achieved or gained by doing nothing. If we want our life to be easier, if we want to get out of this swamp where Belarus has been permanently sitting in for the last twenty years - and recently there was this so-called anniversary - we must be active and not be afraid of repressions and pressure which is being put on all our people and every person in particular." BELYATSKY HOLDING PEN (SOUNDBITE) (Belarussian) ALES BELYATSKI, SAYING: "My position remained clear. During all those years I never backtracked from my words or ideas. My release is not a consequence of me changing my position. It is a consequence of certain pressure on Belarussian authorities, consequence of the fact that the Belarussian authorities had to allow certain concessions which, in their view, would help to normalise the situation."
