Description

By Reuters

Description:
(W4) DAVOS, SWITZERLAND (JANUARY 26, 2007) (REUTERS) (SOUNDBITE) (English) MUSICIAN, BONO, SAYING: "I think it's two years on, it's time to take the temperature. There were some serious promises made, cheques were signed but as we know, people sign cheques, they like signing, particularly politicians, but they don't like cashing them. And that's what we're going to find out. From Kumi's perspective (Kumi Naidoo from the CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation), those cheques weren't big enough in the first place. So if those promises are not kept it's a kind of scandal and as my friend Bob (Geldof) says, it will make a generation of cynics. I don't believe that's going to happen. I'm still optimistic that we will get through this and that's what I'm here for."
Dateline: 2007
