Kawah Ijen is a volcano complex consisiting of composite volcanoes in the Banyuwangi region in East Java, Indonesia. The Ijen volcano is a popular tourist attraction, for its turquoise colored acidic crater lake and stunning landscape. It is also the working area for several hundred mine workers, who collect sulphur (brimstone) that they carry up from the crater lake, usually in loads ranging from 60 to 80 kilograms.
