Description:
USS Yorktown (CV-10) Aircraft Carrier. Initially called the Bonhomme Richard, she was renamed Yorktown while under construction to commemorate USS Yorktown (CV-5), lost at the Battle of Midway, June 1942. She earned 11 Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater (World War II) and 5 Battle Stars in the Vietnam War. Late in her career, she served as a recovery ship for the Apollo 8 space mission, and was used in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!. In 1975 became a museum ship at Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
