CAIRO, EGYPT (MARCH 4, 2009) (REUTERS) EXTERIOR OF ARAB LEAGUE HEADQUARTERS WIDE OF ARAB LEAGUE MEETING IN PROGRESS ARAB AND LATIN AMERICAN FOREIGN MINISTERS SEATED AT MEETING SUDAN'S STATE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, ALI KARTI, SEATED AT MEETING KARTI APPROACHING PODIUM FOR NEWS CONFERENCE CAMERMAN FILMING NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SUDAN'S STATE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, ALI KARTI, SAYING: "Sudan reiterates its stance that it refuses completely to deal with the International Criminal Court. Sudan is not a member, and it has no jurisdiction over it, in the same way that America is not a member the court and it has excluded itself through a resolution of the Security Council. The Sudanese judiciary is qualified and capable of carrying out its duties." JOURNALISTS (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SUDAN'S STATE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, ALI KARTI, SAYING: "It is true that it is a breach of the sovereignty of the country, and a breach of the principles of justice and a serious precedent with regards to the sovereignty of nations and in dealing with presidents and their immunity. But the effect on President al-Bashir, there will be no outcome in the way that the International Criminal Court would expect. President al-Bashir will carry out his duties normally, regardless of whatever decisions the International Criminal Court issues. He will go to Doha, he will carry out his duties in full and whenever there is a need for him to leave the country, he will carry out his duties in full." JOURNALISTS (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SUDAN'S STATE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, ALI KARTI, SAYING: "We confirm our commitment to the peace process in the country, south, east and west. And we confirm our respect to the comprehensive peace treaty that has been signed in 2005 and all other treaties. A country where peace treaties are concluded and where a peace dialogue is going on at present about what remains of the conflict - it has never happened that one country, in the course of four or five years, has concluded so many treaties, and has ended longstanding wars. We also believe in the democratic process and the peaceful transition of power and the elections that will take place at the end of this year according to the comprehensive peace treaty."
