TOKYO, JAPAN (OCTOBER 5, 2018) (REUTERS) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AND GAMES DELIVERY OFFICER AT TOKYO 2020, HIDEMASA NAKAMURA AND SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR SPORTS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AT TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT, KOJI KAWASE, ARRIVING FOR NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AND GAMES DELIVERY OFFICER AT TOKYO 2020, HIDEMASA NAKAMURA, SAYING: "Now, let me reiterate that we believe we saw the expected results from the underwater screen. Yet, as I stated already, TMG (Tokyo Metropolitan Government) and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee will continue to look at these measures and some additional measures to make sure Tokyo 2020 will have no problem. These results have been shared with the IOC as well as the international federations who will have competitions in this area. They agree that the tests show results that were quite favourable." NEWS CONFERENCE UNDERWAY (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AND GAMES DELIVERY OFFICER AT TOKYO 2020, HIDEMASA NAKAMURA, SAYING: "First of all, the 'no swimming' signs (currently in place in Odaiba) are not just because of the bacteria but also because of life-saving safety. There are no life-saving stations in Odaiba. Because there are no life savers stationed there, there are 'no swimming' signs. However, next week I believe, the triathlon national championships will be held in Odaiba. Although the signs say 'no swimming', it doesn't mean that there is absolutely no swimming. We will still have championships there." VARIOUS OF ADVISOR SPEAKING TO NAKAMURA AND KAWASE DURING NEWS CONFERENCE WHEN ASKED QUESTION (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR SPORTS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AT TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT, KOJI KAWASE, SAYING: "So, talking about the Tokyo Bay in general, not just the screened area... I do not have the data regarding that from last year to this year but, again, the weather conditions such as rainfall and typhoons have a lot of influence on water qualities. However, that is just conjecture on my part." KAWASE RECEIVING INSTRUCTION FROM ADVISOR (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR SPORTS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AT TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT, KOJI KAWASE, SAYING: "Sorry, I do not have accurate data about exactly when the typhoon came." (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AND GAMES DELIVERY OFFICER AT TOKYO 2020, HIDEMASA NAKAMURA, SAYING: "I am no academic so I cannot give you all the scientific reasons but the international federations told us that the E.Coli bacteria and coliforms are the two major adversaries and on these two results the federations were quite satisfied." NAKAMURA AND KAWASE LOOKING AT SLIDES ON MONITOR NAKAMURA AND KAWASE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER BEFORE ANSWERING QUESTION (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AND GAMES DELIVERY OFFICER AT TOKYO 2020, HIDEMASA NAKAMURA, SAYING: "Yes, that is right, you understand correctly.
