You know people talk about an agreement, but I think there will be a number of agreements, but that any of those that maybe relevant to Gibraltar would exclude Gibraltar. I have complete confidence that, as an important part of the British family of nations, an important part of the franchise that voted in that referendum. Although we voted to remain and the decision was to leave, that we will not be let down whether at five minutes to midnight or at one minute to midnight. If we are, I think the British people would judge very harshly a prime minister or any other minister in the British cabinet who at the last minute lets down the people of Gibraltar who chose to remain and should not become the first or last victim of Brexit." EXTERIOR 6 CONVENT PLACE, HEADQUARTERS OF GIBRALTAR'S GOVERNMENT BRITISH SOLDIER TAKING COVER OFF OF GUN (SOUNDBITE) (English) GIBRALTAR CHIEF MINISTER, FABIAN PICARDO, SAYING: "The future of Gibraltar is not just in my hands. The future of Gibraltar is in the hands of the 32,000 Gibraltarians. There was recognition in the United Kingdom. There was a recognition in the charter of the United Nations that the people of a non-self- governing territory are the people who determine the future of that territory. That's what the principle of consent is about, that what modern United Nations doctrine is about, and that's what the government of the United Kingdom has repeatedly said."
