NYON, SWITZERLAND (APRIL 12, 2017) (REUTERS) UEFA HEADQUARTERS IN NYON UEFA FLAGS UEFA SIGN ON FLAG UEFA DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION AND DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY GIORGIO MARCHETTI TALKING TO COMMUNICATION STAFF MEMBER (SOUNDBITE) (English) UEFA DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION AND DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY GIORGIO MARCHETTI SAYING: "We are in direct liaison with the venue and then we started dealing with the matter immediately. A security crisis emergency meeting was called immediately by the match delegate who was the UEFA responsible person on site, involving the two teams, the police and the people in charge of security and in this meeting, decision and direction was made for the match to be postponed. We think this was an absolutely necessary decision. There were no conditions yesterday for the match to be played. The home team was at the hotel, they couldn't come to the stadium and the conditions were not there to play. So the match was postponed to, until today in full agreement with the two clubs and with the approval of police." GIORGIO MARCHETTI TALKING TO COMMUNICATION STAFF MEMBER (SOUNDBITE) (English) UEFA DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION AND DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY GIORGIO MARCHETTI SAYING: "Clearly we will review with every single club the procedures that are in place. We have already asked the clubs to review with their police, their security arrangements and measures for, to guarantee the safety and security of all those involved today and also tomorrow for the Europa League matches." GIORGIO MARCHETTI TALKING TO COMMUNICATION STAFF MEMBER (SOUNDBITE) (English) UEFA DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION AND DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY GIORGIO MARCHETTI SAYING: "For today for example, at Dortmund we know there will be enhanced security measures implemented there. More body searches for people coming in, that is why people are requested and we invite people to come earlier to the gate in order to, say, pass this procedure and to avoid long queues. Today for example, back-packs will not be admitted into the stadium, there will be restriction for the car parking and of course, more stewards and more policemen around."
