Description:
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, UK (DECEMBER 17, 2019) (REUTERS) LIVERPOOL STAND-IN MANAGER, NEIL CRITCHLEY, ARRIVING FOR POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL STAND-IN MANAGER, NEIL CRITCHLEY, SAYING: "Incredibly proud of that performance. I thought for larger periods of the game we were well in the game. I thought the start of the game was brilliant. I think we were actually the better team for the first twelve, thirteen minutes. And then obviously we concede from a wide freekick which we you know could have done a little bit better with. And then the second one's a real cruel deflection and you find yourself two-nil down, scratching your head thinking 'not sure how we are two-nil down." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL STAND-IN MANAGER, NEIL CRITCHLEY, SAYING: "Yeah we don't want the night to end. Even speaking here with you guys now. This is a great experience so, I'll stay here all night if you want and have a chat with you. You probably want to go home, but if you want me to talk about those players in there tonight I'll be here all night. I thought we were - I was incredibly proud of the way our players played the game tonight and how we approached the game. Our pressing, our counter pressing. I was part of it and I was with them on the touchline. The staff was part of it and I say I'm just fortunate to share something special with those group of players and staff tonight. And I've got to say, I'll say it again, the support that we had. I mean it's Christmas, they're well aware of the team that was going to be on that pitch tonight and they came in their thousands and they stayed right to the end and clapped all those young players off the pitch. It shows what a special football club this is." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL STAND-IN MANAGER, NEIL CRITCHLEY, SAYING: "Yeah we have some information at halftime from the manager (Juergen Klopp). Basically to keep playing the way we were playing and keep being brave, keep doing what we were doing. So, he was out there (Doha, Qatar) watching with the staff and the players and I hope that, and I'm sure he will be, I'm sure he'll be proud of the way we played tonight. So, maybe one or two of ours will now be sneaking off on a plane somewhere and joining that group. I'm sure they'll be well received.” WHITE FLASH CRITCHLEY LEAVING POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE
