A children's song. The Spanish children are asking Mama for nickels and dimes to buy trinkets. Minorcans, from the island of Minorca, off the coast of Spain, first came to Florida in 1768, along with Italians and Greeks, led by Dr. Andrew Turnbull. Turnbull settled New Smyrna Beach, Florida. When the colony came to an end in 1777, the Minorcan settlers relocated to St. Augustine.
