Sale Price for Multiple Clips

I would like to see an option for artists to specify any or all of their clips to be sold at a reduced percentage if a buyer were to purchase 2, 3, 4, or more clips from a single artist.
For example: if a buyer purchases a single clip, it is sold at full price. However, if that same buyer purchases two clips from a single artist, they could be sold, for example, at 90% each, 3 for 85% each, and so on.
In addition, it would be even better if each artist could predetermine the % breakdown for each addition clip sold as well as specify which clips are available to be sold at a "bulk" discounted rate.

Great idea!
This is something we've been thinking about, and we're going to be announcing an option like this, or something very similar, in the near future.

I think, it's high time to refresh this post as I'm guessing Pond5 totally forget it by now. This is really a great idea and don't think we should let it wash away by time (4years uhhhh...) It doesn't have to happen exactly the way above but some kind of discount on multiple clips - own Promotion Codes as one of the other post discuss it - etc. would be really good. You (Pond5 crew) are the guys with great marketing strategies and promotions, so if you (I guess you already did) analyze the potential value of it, I think it's worth to consider seriously some new bundleish implementations.

We've kept this in mind, but it's unlikely we will implement it. The problem is that it's much more convenient for buyers to have a universal discount, which covers everything they might buy on the site. It would get confusing for buyers trying to reconcile seller-specific discounts with universal discounts. So we'll likely go with, for instance, discounted credit packages good for everything on the site, as opposed to various specific discounts with limitations by artist.
We also want artists to focus on producing great content and pricing it appropriately. You shouldn't be spending your time coming up with discounts and marketing gimmicks -- that's our job! :)

Would artists be allowed to opt-out of discounts?

My guess is if Pond5 initiates a discount, they would take the hit on their end and not pass it on to artists... which is what they've done in the past when they've had special offers.
As for myself, I would still prefer to offer my own discounts. Let's be honest, Pond5 is going to market Pond5 and everything on the site. You are not going to specifically market MY PORTFOLIO. So while I might get lucky and sell a few clips through some special marketing effort on your part, I am personally going to get better results (ie, more personal sales) if I do some of my own marketing. Therefore, I would STILL PREFER that you create marketing tools that I can use on my own portfolio. If I bring a customer to the site, there will be no confusion because I brought them to the site specifically for my portfolio.
How about discount bins? Let me create a bin and anything I put in that bin is either a fixed price or a percentage off (enter 50 for $50 and 50% for 50% off). Really make it useful by allowing me to set a start and end date for the bin to be active.
One of your competitor sites already offers something similar and it's very popular with buyers and sellers.

Dave is right - whenever we take a discount we're taking it out of our end, so you guys don't take a hit when a buyer uses a discount code.
We haven't considered discounted bins, but as Tom said above we want you guys to focus on creating awesome content. At the moment, leave the marketing to us!

Yeah I like that, it's hard enough to constantly create, when you need to worry about doing this and that for the site too, it gets to be too much. Thanks Pond5, and thanks for doing such a great job marketing our work, I appreciate it.

I like Pond5 too and I do agree that they do a good job.But because marketing is basically never enough I got the idea to refresh this post just as a suggestion.I understand Pond5's point of view but Dave came up with things I agree with too.Anyway, I got a clean answer from Tom which is fine to me.Keep on the good job!
