Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 looks like a good all rounder for stills and video, better than the GH3 for stills as it has an excellent lens. Anyone got one ? Much cheaper than a GH3

Hi Ian, I don't have an RX10, I have RX100m2 - they are related (same sensor/processing I believe). If the RX10 is better than the RX100, you'd likely be pleased. I got the RX100m2 because of the pocketable size, for which it works well, but the lens has lots of chromatic aberration and I can't customize the video look as much as I'd like - I think the RX10 has more controls (better control over in-camera sharpness, color, contrast) which would be nice to be able to turn down a LOT more.

Do not get me wrong - I'm NOT recommending the RX100 for you at all - it's a good camera to have in pocket, but the limited lens and CA is of issue. I'm just piping up because the only difference between the two as far as I can tell is the lens - the RX10 lens looks a lot better.

The form factor of the camera is interesting - you have a fixed lens, but it looks like it should be interchangeable. Keep that in mind - consider the NEX-7 ... Michele is happy with hers - finding it better in many cases than her 5dmk2, which she shoots with also, frequently alternating in the same situation.

If I could afford I would go for the even more amazing Sony Alpha 7R

Have you considered the micro 4/3 sensor sized cameras like the Panasonic GF6

Can you order it yourself and test it. We have a 2 weeks return policy in Germany when one order things online. No question asked when you don't like it or not up to your expectation. UK should be like Germany. No?

Don't think so.
