What codec should i use for a video that has an alpha channel ?
I am on Windows so no Prores. My video is of an object shot on a chromakey background.
Photojpeg does not support alpha channel. Should i use PNG ?

Nvm, i googled a bit. It was AME that confused me a bit. It said it was going to do a sequence with pictures but ofc it is going into a .mov container. Pretty new to this Alpha channel stuff. Bit confusing with all these different formats and stuff hehe.

I ran into some trouble.
First i need to choose between straight or premultiplied matte.
Second one is my video is 4K 59.94fps 56sec long. From what i have tested my PNG quality probably needs to be 50% to make the 5GB limit. Yet to see if that makes an big impact.
Another choice would be to make two videos. One with matte in a format like photojpeg and one separate matte video.
Dont know if that is allowed here.

Without knowing what editing software you are using on your PC to create a PNG maybe you should check out tutorials on youtube.

I solved it by making it shorter. Its uploaded ready for editing but i am not sure everything is ok.
First when i look at the clip detailed description it says no alpha channel or matte. But it is indeed showing that checkerboard background that indicate alpha channel. Mayby the reviewer ticks that box becouse i cant see any checkbox for that. Second the Preview icon/picture looks a bit wonky. Mayby i should contact pond5 directly. seems easiest. Only my second video so i am totally new at uploading videos in these formats.
Thanks for the help so far though !

The codec you are looking for most likely is not available anymore. It used to be under Quicktime PNG. You can now however get Prores codecs https://aescripts.com/aftercodecs/. They are currently available for AE... but soon will also work with Premiere Pro and Media Encoder. These have all the facilities up to 4444 and of course alpha channel support etc.. I have been submitting footage via these codecs for a while now and no issues. BTW - these are for PC!

Thanks vadervideo. I will defenitly consider that Prores script. Quicktime is so outdated, when rendering it warns me that support is ending/ended or whatever so for future compatibility i think Prores is way better probably.
