I was looking at some footage shot with it on Vimeo, amazing quality and shallow DOF.
If it shot progressive I would have already ordered it. Don't know why they went interlaced.
We'll see what Canon comes out with this year.

If I had 2k in my pocket, I would buy the 7D over this camcorder, mainly for the reason that I still make a lot of more money as site photographer than with videography. Nevertheless, this camcorder is going to kill some other products like the HMC40, HMC70, HD1000u, FX7 and the A1U. The only advantage I see in this camera is the unlimited recording none stop time until the card is full. So that's good for weddings, interviews, news, and event videography. For stock videos that is not a real advantage.

If it really does support auto-focus as you record, that is HUGE. But it appears that only works with Sony and Minolta lenses. So if you've already invested in a lot of lenses for your Nikon or Canon... $2000 is just the beginning and you'll have to spend thousands more to get everything out of it.

The low light sucks. There is no remote (lanc) input nor XLR for audio, Not an ideal camera for weddings or special events indoors. Look at Sony's NX5.

Bad in low light with such a big sensor and big glass? If it is bad in low light, it was done purposely. They may not want to affect the NX5, FX1000 and AX2000 sales. Isn't low light and zoom more dependent on what type of lens you use? Maybe we have to wait for the final product release. No zoom rocker worries me more. Will you have to buy a follow-focus for this camera? Anyway I prefer the 7D and GH1.

Where did you see it's bad in low light? Is there some review already. Please give the link.
as far as xlr. My FX1 didn't have that either. But it did have a mic input that I used and worked great.
Don't do weddings and don't want to so that isn't an issue for a lot of people.
Dave, this is from their blog, so it does have auto-focus:
An E-mount 18-200mm 11x optical zoom lens comes with it, offering a powerful silent auto-focus system and Optical Steadyshot™ image stabilization with Active Mode.
The video is pretty good. As I said the only thing I can see against this camera is interlaced. As far as lenses goes as Dave said, that would be an issue if this was to replace what you already have. I would be using it as a backup or second camera. Since it comes with an 18-200mm lens, I doubt I would be buying anything else for it. But that is just me.

Yeah, in your case, it would probably work well Jake. But most people buying it, I think, are doing so for the ability to change lenses and those lenses are gonna cost them.
Unless Sony could come out with an adapter that supports auto-focus for my Canon lenses, it would be pointless for me to use them. I can use them now in manual focus mode on my existing camera which supports 24p, 60p, etc...
Still, I think they will sell a lot of them.

Totally agree Dave. That's what happened to me when the video DSLR's came out. I switched from Nikon to Canon and had to buy all new glass.
No doubt they will sell a ton of these. The autofocus, zoom etc was what kept a lot of people from buying a VDSLR.
Well, like I said we'll see what Canon comes out with before the end of the year. I'm sure it will shoot progressive. Maybe a higher bitrate. Hopefully in a camcorder body.
And I hope to God they put in XLR audio inputs so Jason can have his wedding camera :-)

I looked up the spec on B&H and it said low lux was 11 unless they made a mistake and meant 1.1 low lux. Now on Sony's site it says minimum 11 lux (Shutter speed: 1/30 sec, Iris: F3.5, Gain: Auto).
The only time that I use the cameras zoom control is when it's hand held. Most of Sony's camcorders have a lanc input for a hard wire remote.
