Upgraded, but AE still a dog

I'll be checkin ... is it brand new?

OH ...RIGHT. On that note ... my GPU is unsupported. It is faster previewing with the box ticked telling AE to use it, but I can't tell if using an equivalent tested unit would be even better...

Vodka Grapefruit. Always too fast.

Updating AE now.

Mizamook,
from your first post I assume that you might also have a problem of cache: if your preview is fast, but cannot reach 20 seconds in 4k, then I believe the size of the cache could be the culprit.
You say that you have a dedicated 100gb SSD drive for your cache. A dedicated drive is excellent, but in my experience I get much better results with 200 GB of cache. Also it needs to be purged quite often

Vittorio, thanks ... and here I was thinking 100GB was a lot (well it was ... I came from using a 7200rpm SATA3 drive that was shared with footage files ... I'll see if I can finagle some more. Funny, it's some effects (in this case, Paint, where I'm trying to do frame reconstruction, causes a lockup ... but in other cases even with Neat NR and other FX seems to run fine. And not the same on my laptop ... which does NOT have the dedicated large cache.

From another post I understand that your bird has drowned.
That is horrible!
Did you not teach him how to swim?
Mizamook 16 Aug 2016 18:38
Yes, well, you know that thing evil dads do ... toss the kid in the water and say "Sink or swim!"? Well ... it didn't work with my baby ...

Which is better to edit a video clip for stock: AE or Premiere?
Mizamook 17 Aug 2016 02:38
Debatable ... I only have AE ... don't want to pay for PP. Several others work with PP. They like it. I like to clone and such, so I am stuck with AE. Tried PP but thought it was bloated and confusing. Didn't try long enough to learn enough to get past that. No longer use Vegas except for when I make some kind of sequence.

I'm 99.99% PP CC. Love the white balance eye dropper on new version. Also the color, brightness, shadows etc etc are so simple and fast to use ... just Lightroom.

AE and PP overlap in a lot of things, so both can be used.
For individual clips AE is better, so is the first choice for stock footage.
Premiere is better for putting together several clips and audio into a movie
