Yea I use the strap too for handhelds, not perfect but does the trick most of the time

I do that, but the best thing I think is to hold out the camera while the strap is around your neck and the strap is tight, if you hold the bottom of the camera the strap is like a support system. Ive got so used to it I can do it one handed and focus.

dSLR video is dead. Speaking of which I gotta spend some money soon. Choices: Nikon D3100, Sony A55 or a consumer grade camcorder.
Is the Panny TM700K good enough for stock?
The Sony A55 has some cool features. HDR photo. 1080/30fps video. Fast auto-focus. But lack of manual controls. Not a biggie since I have a GH1.
The D3100 is an unknown. But Nikon Glass...

If you have to ask "is it good enough for stock" I guess you already know the answer.
If DSLR video is dead, why are you going to consumer grade cameras that don't have manual controls and pin head size sensors that will degrade the video?
Reinvest that $8K in something that will give you a return on your investment.

I need a run and camera for the Ski hills and one that will actually auto focus, HV30-40 seems to be OK for stock and hoping the TM700K since it is newer might do the job. Sony EX3 or EX1R are tempting but I have to wait to Jan 1 for a big ticket purchase... because of the Tax year.
And of course the Scarlet will be out and we all know it will be quantum leap.... really I read it on Red.com........game changing.

lol
You seriously believe red?
I was going to buy the scarlet 2 years ago (I think?)... its just a theoretical camera. If we are going to compare theoretical cameras The Blue One can travel through time, now thats a game changer.
The scarlet may be half working but if its not released yet, then its not finished.
FYI red raw is based on the jpeg2000 algorithm. Not that I have a problem with it but ....you know, its not really "raw." I can cite sources for that.

"Red admits defeat to the DSLR revolution!"
http://www.eoshd.com/content/366
"Jim Jannard today spoke about defining RED's target market. Rather than aiming at the prosumer market with Scarlet, they've changed tact and will concentrate the Scarlet purely on professional high end production teams rather than the likes of the 'DVXUser' indie filmmaker crowd, which they have now turned their back on entirely. It appears that RED have admitted they simply cannot compete with the DSLR revolution and it is the surest sign yet that Scarlet is heading for a huge price increase or even cancellation."
