@dapoopta: If you need the shallow DOF then yes! Else stick with your XF300.

@dapoopta: I think you should wait for Bloom's review of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, if you are considering either of the two.

I asked Phillip Bloom when was he going to test the Blackmagic camera.
His answer was "sure, when am I getting it"
So, my guess is Blackmagic is done with having people test before it ships.
I believe Bloom already has a test of the MKIII

Bloom said hopefully sometime in July. I think that Blackmagic should send one to him since he is very popular within the low budget videographer community . About the MKIII he said: superior in low light than MKII, better sound quality, minimal moire and aliasing if any, that he expected much more, he feels the image is still soft and needs more detail or sharpness and he is not happy about the HDMI not supplying a clean signal out. The high bitrate makes it possible to get better results in CS5. Nevertheless it is superior to the Nikon D800 and D4. I think he is very happy with his C300 and will use the MKIII only for extreme shallow depth of field applications.

July? it's supposed to be shipping at the end of July.
I really hoped that if he or anyone else would get a camera it would be now.
Oh well, it would have to be real crap to cancel my order given nothing else in an affordable price range shoots raw.

@danielschweinert I don't have a xf300 :-(.

I'm deciding between a few cameras right now, mainly:

Black Magic
fs700
c300

My stock footage sales still do not justify a camera more expensive than a T2i.... ;-/

@dapoopta you must be selling at least $2k a month in order to have your ROI in less than 1 year if you are after those two expensive cameras.

That Black Magic Camera is going to be a great tool for those who make TV commercials and Infomercials which can pay it back with just one job. If it is a success the next Black Magic model is going to be the "end of days" for other cameras like the FS100 and AF100.

By now Don must be testing his new 5DMkiii....I wonder How he felt when he opened the box. ;-)

B&H took several days before shipping. I'm tracking it now so just a few more days ;). I'm sure as I open the box I will he happy but at the same time question it's value above the MKII. I know it will far exceed quality of 7D.

The processing power of the new Digic 5+ is superb. Maybe Magic Lantern can now implement more versatile utils. Since the Canon 1D C uses the same Digic 5+ cpu(s) it might be possible to get a 4k stream out of it or at least RAW 1080p. The processing power is finally here.

@luxor, not making that much, I wish :-)

This isn't my full time job, so I have a little extra to spare
