4k Codecs for Pond5

I use PhotoJpeg for my 4k time lapse. The file is big, but it retains all that color data that you have from creating a video out of photos. PJpeg is a good intermediate file because of all of the color data that remains. The files I upload are huge because of the massive color and exposure data enclosed in an HDR photo time lapse.
If I was shooting with a camera that uses a lesser recording format like MTS or something, I would consider using a lesser codec because the color range and such isn't as strong to begin with, so encoding to PJpeg is similar to upscaling and just a big waste of data space.

Physic,
Your explaining very well and my camera (at the moment) produce only MTS, so I've better upload my clips as MOV 264---the most economic way for my purpose.. 4K Photo Timelapse is another game, and must be MOV photoJpeg cause I can't convert it with Ae to MOV h264 anyway.
Thanks.

Just want to share this email with you guys
"Hello P5,
Just need your advice on codes. Which codes sell better in P5 (PhotoJpeg or h264 MOV) ? Is there any data to support this? What about h265? Any time soon that P5 accept this codes?
There is a discussion on the forum about this. "
"Definitely h.264, all the way. Though it's worth noting that our system can do conversions for buyers into h.264, prores, and motionjpeg, so if it's easier for you to use a specific codec then that should be fine as well. :)"

I am sure that P5 prefers the smaller files on their servers. It would be interesting to see if the market turned that way, but if you have to do too much color correction h264 gets color banding. Maybe a lot of buyers just don't do much color correction. I don't know because most of the video I edit into larger projects are my own, so I archive in pjpeg.
Yeah, if I had an MTS camera, I would think that the mov h264 would be fine. Especially because shooting real time video you are likely to have much more content to process. My time lapse videos take days to process, so if one video takes a few hours to upload it doesn't matter. If you have 30 videos to upload, pjpeg could be a really long time.
Thanks for sharing their reply though.
SS doesn't even accept h264 do they?

I don't know if it is really true what Jonathan (P5 support) said that h264 is most sellable codes. I believe (IMO) buyer just download whatever they can find best suitable available. So h264 or Mov Jpeg (PhotoJpeg) are all OK. I am still waiting for his further explanation on this subject.
Is there any free-ware like Mpeg steamclip for converting clip to h265 ??
I think I upload MOV h264 to SS!? Funny I have problem to upload 4K Photo Timelapse (MOV Jpeg) to SS.
Thanks

The question is what do buyers buy more often PJPEG or H.264 in their original artist uploaded codex. P5 probably converts PJPEG into h.264 when a buyers downloads the file so h.264 is downloaded more often?

When they convert it, they offer both, but I don't know.

haven't found freeware yet but commercial software available on PC that will do h.265 as well as all the Prores codex.
I don't want to buy it unless P5 and SS are ready to accept it.
