DJI Osmo-- world’s first fully integrated stabilized handheld 4K camera

Of course any moving part on anything, at any time, can fail. These are brushless motors though ... they run for long, long time.

A review of the X5 vs X3 by a very balanced individual ... worth checking for those considering the Osmo with X3 or waiting to get it with X5: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32903651&postcount=808

I've been using this same concept with my GoPro Hero 3+ with a Feiyu G4 handheld 3-axis gimbal. I take that combo everywhere. And, the public seems very relaxed around it. It has it's place, and I've sold some clips using it. No need for a tripod, slider, etc. But, no 4K, bad in low light, not waterproof, auto everything, etc that the Osmo looks to overcome somewhat. But, mine is paid for so that's that for me.

This just in (will enable use of the simple handle concept but with better camera once they release the adapter plate) http://store.dji.com/product/osmo-handle-kit

How much weight will it support?
Mizamook 20 Oct 2015 20:32
It's basically only for the X3 and X5 cameras. The X3 is an integrated unit, ,the X5/R being integrated with their own motors, have only the limitations of the m43 lenses you might find that will work/balance with them ... not much more than the stock lens plus a filter or two.

Recent very brave work by the guy who did the review of the X5 indicates that they have a very aggressive OLPF ... he managed to remove his and replace with a block of filter glass, plus IR filter, and is much happier. Will DJI follow suit? Or do they think everyone will be happy with the slightly soft image this $2200 camera offers regardless of lens?

THAT, me friends, is the question.

Why should they sue and how will they sue exactly? The most they can do is deny warranty, but the modification is reversible so there is little basis for that as well.
In other news, beholder ds1 is being packaged in a warehouse somewhere.Im anxious to get a hold of it.

Not what I meant - I meant "I wonder if they will consider making a thinner OLPF crystal to eliminate the softness even at the expense of risking a little moire"?" I doubt it. No, he knew he'd void the warranty .. it was a cool thing for him to risk his camera, even knowing they might even refuse to fix it if he messed it up. The results were awesome.

I'm considering the Beholder for my RX100m4, but I already have a gimbal for that I can easily make a handle for, but lack the joystick/modes. I'm more interested in the "5-axis" concept as it eliminates that stupid human walking bounce (Nebula 4200)

Ok got it.Yes nebula 4200 seems like a hell of a concept but so far i haven't seen any real world footage.

You can only use 2 lenses for X3 and X5 cameras, if I am correct?!

I think Beholder DS1 is a better deal since you can attach your own camera n may be iPhone (do they offer this quick release plate??) !

The price of a complete Osmo ($650) is almost the same price of Beholder DS1 ($699--Plus around 20% import tax to EU countries). And DS1 has more use than just this Osmo handle. :)
