Thinking of Lowering My Prices

Right now most of my titles are around 40 dollars. I get a few sales here and there, but nothing like what they used to be a couple years ago, which wasn't all that great to begin with. I was thinking about the minimum, which would allow more people to be able to afford the tracks for various projects.

@teknoaxe I checked out some of your tracks, nice stuff by the way, but the question is will a buyer feel its worth $40 hard to say but if all your Tracks are $40 that may be a defining factor for many, because pricing I have seen for Music here seems mostly in the $15-20 or so range, maybe that's the sweat spot ... I am no expert at this but I found that some of my SFX sell at slightly higher then the base suggested as I feel my level of quality and time spent making and recording good sounds is worth more, so far playing in the the POND is quite an experiment of keywords, good titles, and pricing that's not too high. Maybe you might experiment a bit and make some in the 15-20 if that works for you and see if sales increase. Some of the truly seasoned long time artists on here can prob give you better advice but this is just what I have found while selling Sound Effects here. I have not tested the waters with music but may, as I do dabble in movie style music as well in my spare time. Also unrelated note, I found this forum has no notification of posts, so we must try to visit fairly often, I do hope they add the needed code though to make it happen.

I just got off the phone with the New York office about this. They are going to send me some info on whether or not I should lower my (only track that sells) price from $50. It usually sells a couple times a month, but there was a month in 2015 when I made over $400. If I could make that every month, I'd be very happy. I have seen the trend being much cheaper, maybe lowering our prices for a month or so would be a good experiment. I'm going to wait for them to respond first, though.

I don't think lowering prices is a good idea. Especially if you have high-quality tracks. I keep my prices mostly around 39$ and I'm doing pretty well and the sales are pretty consistent.
The thing is, if you produce quality tracks, prices too low will actually deter serious buyers from them because they'll think everyone and their uncle has bought them and serious producers usually want something more unique, that not everyone has. Also, if you start lowering prices, you're doing a disservice to the market as a whole which will result in a race to the bottom at some point and then the RF market will be almost pointless to work in.
I'd advise you to actually look closer at your naming, descriptions and tags on your items. You have to keep those up to date with the current trends.

Last month when Pond 5 allowed $15 songs, I lowered my prices for full tracks from $29-$39 down to $15. I saw a few more sales, but WAY less revenue. After a month, I returned my prices to where they were.

I have to admit that the Pond 5 tag system is not the most user-friendly system out there. Usually I follow the boxed suggestions on what mood the song conveys. Is there a better way to do this then?

I actually started noticing more sales and way more money when I bumped all of my tracks up to $49USD across the board. Then P5 upped their cut so it's not *as* good but no way would I consider going less than $49USD these days anywhere, it's just not worth it. I've done some experimenting on here and in the jungle and while I might make a *few* more sales with really low priced tracks, the revenue is way less. Screw that! You've got nice tracks, bump up the price and take yourself seriously!
