pond5 now takes 65% of sales?

This is magnified if your selling SFX, as they cost far less to buy then music, leaving one with peanuts, so overall not a good change for the artist at all, and I see most are quite upset with all this, so your not alone in your frustration.

Selling SFX is a joke now.. God forbid the sale is with a discount. Not accepting new SFX, except from a select few authors doesn't help matters either. The whole SFX library on pond5 is getting old, like 8+ years old.

Yes I had one of those dam discounts hit my sale of a extended lic, and only made like $7 or so from that $50 lic, that is really unfair to the artists here. If they want to give discounts that's one thing, but to take it from our tiny 35% is insane and not right they should be taking it from their now 65% not ours.

I am glad for this forum thread. I checked and was surprised to have a couple of sales (3/4 years ago I was regularly getting a bunch of monthly sales but not anymore) but even more surprised to see the 30% revenue. I thought I signed up to 50% when I joined P5. Perhaps I agreed to this cut somehow but I've forgotten. I also seem to have some memories of P5 being sold about 2 years ago - I may be wrong. I guess whoever bought the site wants their money back. As others have said, the 50% they were making was supposed to cover the sites expenses now they have added to that. The fact is they dont make anything to be sold, only the means to sell it, in my mind means the split should be the other way around. ......rant over thank u

Had some nice ideas and recordings for new sound effects. Thought to myself... wait, is it worth my time and effort creating something just so someone else is creaming off two thirds of it for essentially doing nothing? Naah mate, I'm good. I'll use them for my private projects instead now, thanks.

Motivation to upload new stuff dropped to 0. Don't really fancy getting annoyed every time I sell something and see the reward for my time, hard work and creativity disappearing in someone else's pockets.

At this point, the best idea is to go solo and take the time to brand yourself professionally. I removed all my tracks from Pond5 as it's not worth my time anymore. I plan to build a website to sell my music and get 90%+ of the money using something like Gumroad or Payhip for payment processing. They are easy to set up in conjunction with a Wordpress template. Even a Tumblr template would do the trick and everything would be super good looking.

problem is that pond5 is taking 65% share of zero sales...

Et tu, Bosone? How long for you?

At least I now know my lack of music sales for the last year and a half are not necessarily cuz I suck.

Sure wish there was a place to sell this stuff.
