hi.
i was wondering if there is any keyword limitation.
i read on some older threads that using too much tags will get me off the search results.
however, this guy is in top sellers, although he used a gazillion keywords/tags etc:
http://www.pond5.com/stock-music/3393256/epic-finale-i-trailer-music-sketches.html
and this guy is in top too, also he used only 8 words in all:
http://www.pond5.com/stock-music/1107313/business-freedom.html
shouldnt tags supposed to help get more views? if so, how come this guy with absolutely no description and only 8 words has so many views?
and if too many keywords takes me off the search lists, how come the guy with the gazillion words is on top?
also, i only have one clip, but no matter how i do the search, it's not displaying. does anybody know...?

There are limits on Keywords now, when you upload a new clip try to add a zillion it wont let you. I think old stuff with tons of keywords kind of got swept in because it was to hard to fix all of them. Maybe a penalty was put into the system, I really don't know, all that stuff happened so long ago.
Using a ridiculous amount of keywords is called keyword spaming, it's a very frowned upon thing. It's a great was to make other artists not like you. The reason being is that your basically using words that obviously don't describe your clip to try and up your search hits. There is just so many words you can use to describe any thing, unless your an English major, no offense...
The thing that doesn't make any since to me is if you have keywords that don't describe your clip then they won't fit the need so really what's the point... If I'm looking for a clip of baseball and I get clips of frogs, it doesn't make me need a clip of frogs. Also who wants to spend all there time keywording, I do this because I love to do the work, I hate the keywording side of it...
Some times though in some instances a clip is hard to describe, or is very up to interpretation or got more keywords accidentally when someone was in a hurry... cutting and pasting things in, or what ever, it happens some times there are reasons mistakes happen. It's the people with 900 words on every clip that are the bad ones.
Your locating one clip in a HUGE sea of clips, that's one part of your issue. Another part of your issue is that things take awhile to be fully into they system. That came from some thing said a long time ago, it may not still be true, I think Marcus is the only one that could shed any real light on that one and be spot on accurate.
My advice is don't worry, it's online, upload more, make more, keyword as accurately as you can, and don't worry about finding it, or any of that stuff. An hopefully while your doing the work sales will start to roll in... I produce constantly and I never go look for my clips, the P5 staff is awesome, I just trust in them to do there end and I'm never let down as far as that stuff goes.

hi.
thx for the answer.
can u take a look at my keywordin/description?
i know i have been accurate, however i used the whole keyword limit and the whole description word limit.
yes, i put on a lotta words there, but they're accurate.
is that bad?
there's some guys in here, i know at least one, cuz ive been reseaching, that have tons of clips yet make very few money from them.
ther's this guy that has 478 clips or some jazz like that and he makes onlye 150-200 $ per month. he said so in a thread and i did a statistics and he is right.
he has load of clips (478) nad make very little money out of it.
i think im not to blame if i try to succeed at the keyword/description issue too.
having good clips, contrary to popular belief, is not going to get u a lot of money. i think it is a total myth! all the time we see bad products (generally, not on pond5) that get a LOT of attntn cuz of good promoting. promoting them is crucial. and i tried to promote them adding a lot of keyword and description. i do NOT think it is something wrong.
and please, curators, if u view my keywords/description and think there's something wrong, DO mail me or correct me.
until then, i cant help but do it the same....

To tell you the truth, I have no idea what's what with keywords for music. I do footage and CG, I know what's up with tagging clips for that... If I made music though, I really don't have any idea what I would put for tags..
I did go look at your work, I really like your music allot. It's cool... Do you have allot more tracks? I would also try to switch up your style allot.. If that's even possible with music. Doing allot of different work sort of means your bound to hit some place. You have that cool organic thing going, and that works for some stuff, but if you did some thing hardcore metal, and some thing rap beat-ish and some thing you would hear in a movie intro.... You see where I'm going with that? Don't get me wrong I like what your doing, it's just hitting on more needs is the key to good stock ports. If I had my druthers I would do abstract backgrounds all day every day...
As far as people with allot more clips that don't make much, there are ports on here that don't have much that make allot too.. It's not because they are spaming keywords, people just like there stuff, and so they buy it, ALLOT...
As a long time producer I will tell you that you never really know what's going to hit. I have done stuff I thought was going to sell like crazy, and it still has not sold, and I have done stuff just goofing around that's sold like crazy...
The inner hippie in me wants to think it was because of my energy while doing stuff with the mentality that I was just enjoying the art and goofing around, and that gave it a different vibe then when I was really pressed for cash and needed to make the next thing in my port that was going to do really well....
Honestly there is no exact science to it... Try self promotion, twitter, myspace, youtube... Get your name out, get your link to port out there! Most of all just do a ton more work is usually a big part of it.
