Jacking other's FX.

So, does Pond5 allow people to DL someone's SFX (mine for example), add another layer or two of their own and then sell it as theirs?
JHDT_Productions 29 Jan 2011 22:36
Oh I don't think that is legal at the very least.
It's unethical at most.
Someone here? I would notify Pond5 of the offender if it is.

Yeah, definitely someone here.

The same thing has happened with footage. Let P5 know, they will be banned and removed if it is so.

Someone here??? Did you contact him directly?
And how shall that be possible with footage?

Buy then re-sell

Sound effects are so easily abused... I know footage is stolen, but its quite easy to spot one's video clip. To hear one's sound effects amongst a myriad of music and other sfx is often very difficult. Toby, for sure contact P5 and let them know who it is, as this person obviously doesn't respect copyright laws and should not be allowed to make money off your creative hard work.

I've contacted Pond5. I'll probably hear from them today. I'll keep you guys posted.

I have my suspicions of a person here as I can hear elements of my sounds. The giveaway is their sounds are severely low fi and heavily modulated (more so than Pond5's streaming). Also the clips are very short and this is probably because they recorded the Pond5 stream without buying the clip. Then they cut out the voice watermark. It's hard to pinpoint but you know your own sound. I suspect it is probably happening more than we think because it's so easy to seemingly get away with. It infuriates me.

I will certainly not let this go lightly and will be contacting Pond5. All my hard work, going out into the field in all weathers for someone to steal to sell on ? No way !

I have had this happen to me a few times now, it's a really awful thing when piracy hits the little guy. Pond5 has been great with getting this stuff offline when ever it's found. Good luck with it.
