Please don't shoot me down as I know nothing about vide but as my 3rd generation ipad has HD video recording I was wondering if clips could be uploaded here. I think the quality is good from what I have recorded so far.

Hi Marbury
That's a bit like me asking you "I have a $20 external microphone that plugs into my Ipad. It sounds pretty good, could I use it to record music for sale?
It can look reasonable under some circumstances and if it was something really newsworthy then go for it, otherwise I would say not!
Just to add, from what I have been able to find (and apple don't publish the data) it seems that the New Ipad records at about 20Mb/s. That is actually not too bad (most "decent" high end consumer cameras do 24Mb/s and the pro cameras (like the Sony EX1) start at about 35Mb/s. The minimum acceptable for many broadcasters (officially!) is 50Mb/s.
That of course doesn't tell the whole story as the lens plays a huge part as does the compression codec.

Totally agree. The lens is probably the most important part of a camera. For news, editorial once in a lifetime then ok. For serious work and not games, nope. Same for any and all cell phone cameras.

Actually the worst that can happen is that people flood the site with ipad / iphone videos that mean it takes months for files to be curated.

Just like any other small camera, if used correctly and to its limitations there is no reason to not use the Iphone.
People here use the Gopro with it's limited uses for stock being it is full auto.
At least the Iphone has software you can download that makes it have fully manual controls for white balance, frame rate, focus etc.
I use an app called Filmic pro which also lets you choose bitrate as high as 50 Mbit per second. Pretty high for a phone and the quality is outstanding.
But don't try any of these cameras in low light, they all suck.
I've also tested the Ipad, the video sucks no matter what you try.
This video was shot (minus the planet) on my Iphone 4s. Tracked in AE and added the planet.
But alas, it hasn't sold.

I just got my new GoPro HD3 Black. Surprised ... it does have manual white balance control at different temps. Also frame rate and wide/medium/narrow selection on lens. 1080 at 60fps, 720 at 120fps, 960 at 100 fps, 1440 at 48 fps, 2.7k at 30 fps and 4k at 15 fps. can also set for Protune and/or RAW video capture. Burst mode, timelapse, continuous shooting, photo at 12 mp. Wifi built in (Black model) with remote or smart phone control. Simultaneous video and photo.
So it does appear that the http://www.rekindlephoto.com has a lot more capability than I previously thought. I would not advise the Silver or White version, in reality they are completely different electronics in the same case.
