UPLOAD NEW FILE STOPPED WORKING

I've uploaded about 175 clips in batches up to about 12 at a time and all worked fine. Suddenly this UPLOAD method stopped working. Even two clips stopped uploading. It just freezes. I've done everything possible–restart, change clips, first aid, etc–nothing solves problem. Deleting prefs appears last option, but fear I'll lose everything. I'm now uploading 18 clips (4k) via FTP but waiting 18 hours! Yikes! Any suggestions to correct my upload problem? Thanks.
