Does anyone know ballpark figures for licensing fees for old popular songs might run around?
For an indie movie I mean? I understand that older songs usually don't have royalties attached, just a fee for the sake of simplicity ... usually within a specific range???
Have any of you all done that, I once got an agreement from Frank Klepacki to use his songs for free for a project.
more specifically for
"I rule the ruins" - warlock
"Turn Up The Radio" - Autograph
"peanut butter conspiracy" - Jimmy Buffett

There are no rules. Each case is different based on the project's distribution potential. ASCAP and/or BMI can tell you - and it doesn't cost to ask. If it is too expensive, you can always deal with APM and look for "similar" music. They will more than help you narrow it down as they are in charge of the 7 largest worldwide RF libraries. If you need more info - PM me.
