What price to set (4k) footage at?

Hi!

I’m fairly new to selling my footage and was wondering how you guys price your footage?
I mostly upload 4K Drone videos of multiple countries and currently have my price set at $179 for 4K (that’s the automatic price that other stock sites have set my footage at) is that too high or maybe too low for pond5?

Thanks! 🤞🏻

Welcome on board Dominique! I believe the basic answer to your question is content, content sells! The more unusual, harder to find and rare content should be priced higher. One way to determine this is to do some keyword searches for your content on Pond 5 to see how much competition there is. The higher numbers of similar videos, price your work lower and the lower number of similar videos price your work higher. I'd also highly suggest placing your videos exclusively at Pond 5 for a higher commission rate and greater exposure.

Or, assume or realize your work is better and set your price accordingly. There is, frankly, a lot of crap on Pond5 that tens to drag down the pricing. If yours is better price it accordingly - particularly 4k.

Don't cut yourself short. Stick with industry standard like you said. Discounts will be given.

What I don't understand is that P5 recommends pricing according to industry standard so around $179 for 4K but they constantly promote cheap files? Just check the top sellers gallery. Many here seem to set their prices just to be the cheapest out there. Then we get a cut because the market is unsustainable?
Top notch or garbage many buyers will still go for the cheap stuff.
So my recommendation is to set your work to the new standard, which is $50 for 4K and $25 for HD!

I wouldn't be setting my prices like the above, the race to the bottom is fast if it carries on the next step will be getting 2 dollars per video and you can see a tv program profiting from it

I just arrived on the scene here POND5 and really am in a fog. I've gone through the contributor approval process and now waiting for my first batch of (4) music tracks to be approved and posted. It's been 3 days and still waiting. Is this typical?

creatus,50$ 4k 25$ hd is not the new standard, maybe it's your standard.....this is a price that people that don't know this industry set because they are afraid of not getting sales...what make you sell is the content you create not the price you set...
