I looked forever trying to find a review between these two lenses for video purposes but was unable to find one. I ended up renting the two lenses and posting a video review about them. Just thought I would post it here for anyone else with the same question. Ultimately it came down to whether the image stabilization in the Tamron (VC) was worth stepping down in quality from the Canon L series lens. Here is what I found:

Good reviews are hard to find, thanks Jaker, On the F2.8 Does that change as you zoom to 70mm?

The 24-70 is a constant aperture and will stay at 2.8 at both extremes. Makes both filming and photography much easier without having to worry about your fstop changing on you.
