My first sale - but lower price than expected

Just had my very first sale and was super excited when I first seen the "Congratualtions, your media was purchased" email. But my smile soon turned to a frown when I opened the email to discover that my $89 clip has only sold for $26 (minus Pond5's cut leaves $17).

I'm guessing someboy who pays a subscription has purchased it, or perhaps a promo run by Pond5 🤔

Ah well - bittersweet.

Congrats to your first sale, and welcome to stock footage in 2024. You should have been here 10 years ago if you wanted items to sell at your listed price.

Price your stuff higher so when the inevitable "discount" happens you'll net more. As it is, at $89 down to $17 isn't really a sale, it's just a disappointment

Hi John, like you I am in the UK, price your clips higher, I am at 99 dollars for hd and 199 for 4k, I am lot older than you I can tell you that stock images and video has plummeted in price, and company's will take a few dollars for a video and even a few cents for a image, my last sale was 55 cents from an image that was priced at 20 dollars, add to that the images was of a pub, and its the only image on the site, but that discount was still given, go back to the 80s and £200 for an image was easily achieved, now company's make more money from subscriptions than sales and will punt out work for literally nothing, good luck in the future

Thanks for your comments guys, much appreaciated. It appears I need to lower my expectations with this game, and perhaps do it more as a hobby that will make me less $$$ than I had initially thought 🙄
