Model Releases

I was just noticing there are many photographs here with identifiable people that are not model released. My previous experience on other sites is that they will not accept an image for general usage with an identifiable model without a release. If you have a photograph with identifiable people and no release, then it can only be for editorial use. It is especially true when young children are the models. What is pond5's position on releases?

Hello BowlSync1, thanks for your question.
Model releases are required for commercial clips when there is a recognizable face, logo, or trademarked image in a file that is uploaded to our site. If it does not have a release attached, we either ask the artist to upload one, or we mark it for editorial usage.
Here are some links from our knowledge base about this!

If you see files that are marked incorrectly, however, please send them to contact@pond5.com and we'll make sure they get marked accordingly!
Cheers,
Ryan
