Dropped new Canon HV20

Well here I am, long way from home, great photo and video opportunities and no video camera ;(.

On the third video stop I set the tripod up, and decided to move it a little. Somehow the mount released and I couldn't catch the HV20. I bouncd off the blacktop road. All in one piece, maybe lucky ... NOT. No power at all and no insurance, I kept putting it off. I called Mastercard, luck... if the camera is less than 90 days it's covered ... maybe. I need to send in proof of everything and in 6 to 8 weeks they will decide. No commitment other than damage like that is covered but they can't guarantee it. So I'm looking to buy another new HV20 next week and hope Mastercard does what they should. If ya'll haven't dropped a camera before it's a real sick feeling.
.
Lesson. I immediately called and got all of my camera gear on an all inclusive all peril insurance coverage. I thought is would be expensive..not. To cover almost $10,000 it costs about $50 a year with zero deductible and all risk covered. If ya'll don't have it, go get it, don't be a dummy like me ;)

That's a big pity!
But don't some tripod company's got insurances for if your camera drops from their tripod? Some of them got guarentees like this..
Hope Mastercard will make a good decision ;)

Well I lucked out. Several "big" repair shops wanted $200 just to look at it. I found a guy who works from his house, highly recommended by a friend. It cost $80 to fix. A 12 pin plug sheared off right next to the $600 card. I was back in action in less than a half day!

You live in the US?
If so, which company did you use to get it insured?

Thanks!

I used USAA insurance. It's a very BIG insurance company that mainly insures military members and their family. They have everything from banking to stocks, funds, investiment, auto, life home etc. I'm sure most other US companies should have similar coverage.
