What to do to increase views and sales on pond5?

if one has 5 times more tracks than another one, that doesnt necessarily means he'll have more sales than him.
but it does mean that he has more sales than he did when he only had 5 times less. so if i have 1000 tracks, it doesnt mean
i have more sales than the one with 100 tracks, but it does mean i have more sales when compared to the older me that used to have only 100 tracks.

adding more tracks doesnt artifficially boost ur sales, it actually does. i mean it's nothing artificial about it.
if by adding more tracks you would jump in front of others, like they do it on audiojungle, than yes, it would be artifficial, but if adding them means just increasing your portfolio, then your chances of being found for more various projects increase, and thus your sales increase - but not artifficially.

chances of being found should be let to handle by the search engines and our tags and descriptions. i dont think the system should limit itself just because it hasnt the technology to elegantly deal with the database.

forcing just 100 reminds me of tunefruit. i have 50 or so tracks there, the review process takes forever and there's just a couple a thousands tracks on the whole site. sure prices are high, but in 1 1/2 years i had no sales. i talked to some who did have sales and they had less than 5 as i understand. if 3 tracks sold per year makes anyone here happy........

i am one who floods p5. but i gave up my job and work only on uploading tracks. i dont find it fair that someone who has a steady job making some real money and having time to only upload one clip pe week or per month should be in the same position with someone who uploads daily. that doesnt mean i earn a lot, but i do think it fair that if i spend more time on them or upload more of them, then i should naturally be given a bigger chance.

about the hit, i dont think there's someone that just says im gonna write a hit today (unless backed by some labels). it just happens by failing a lot and writing a lot of crappy or not so hit-ish tracks first, and then, probability playing a role too, you stumble upon that "hit". so i dont see how one could concentrate only on writing a hit. im more the adept of writing constantly and accidentally maybe achieving a hit, than limiting yourself only to write the best thing you can. also, what is a hit? a hit for some ppl might be junk for others. and some junk track might very well suit the needs of some client. making a lot of clips might turn in selling just one clip out of 10, one time. meaning if you upload 1000 clips, just 100 of them will have one sale. the rest nothing. but that still means 100 sales. and if you can upload 1000 clips a months (sfx of course), thats 100 sales a months. still good, imo...

but one thing we could all do, having 10 or 1000 clips, to increase are earnings (not sales) is if we could all increase our prices.
as long as people sell sfx for $2 and full tracks for $15, then we as a community are guilty as well...(not just the overflooded system)

I believe that there is a finite number of music sounds that will result in sales. A a point the market will and probably is saturated. A slight change in composition will not increase or enhance it's ability to draw a buyers attention. Keywords and descriptions of sounds and music is purely a "feeling". I might be wrong but the stock world of noise and music may have hit the point of saturation.

That's like saying no more new music will come out because all the songs in the world have been made and all the lyrics have been sung.

LOL ... look at all the re-runs and follow-up movies and TV shows. How many times can a 1950's movie be re-made? Look at how many music artists and singers keep trying to sing some else song thinking they can do it better. What I was trying to say is that a simple and slight change in speed, tempo etc etc will not make a music file standout. Just like footage, finding something that stands out is very important. There are only a somewhat limited way to sing Mary Had a Little Lamb ;)

There are only so many ways to shoot a duck. NOW WE HAVE 4k.

this reminded me of some video material where they said that when elvis made its debut (just before he did), rocknroll was thought to be finished as a genre. well, little did they knew.

RocknRoll is great but even more important there are many other kinds or genre of music. While not thinking of this thread but yesterday while driving, a classic song was on the radio, sung by a different artists years after the original release. I told my wife it just was not the same; the words were the same, tempo and beat the same but just didn't sound right. Copying others and making slight variations most of the time just doesn't "sound" right. If we were stuck on variations of Mary had a little lamb it would be real boring ... LOL. Video is the same, once in a while a new clips of a "duck on a pond" will sell but not as often as a pretty woman walking on a beach or a happy family having a picnic in a beautiful park.

So where does our work fit, slight variations of ducks on a pond or do they stand out like on the beach or park?

It's really hard to get views for a beginner like me here on pond5. I have no sales and only a few views. Some days it is hard to see that no new views on my items for 2 or 3 weeks. A good marketing for the items I don't know. I share the items on twitter and co and get any likes for this but no views on pond5. I don't no why.

But I love to make music and will go on.

good luck for you and a little for me ;-)

Yes, you realized what you must do to get views and sales ... UPLOAD. With only 25 music files it's a low probability that they will be seen. It has nothing to do with being new other than the low number of files. Set a goal like having 1% of all P5 music files being yours. Quality and quantity will result in great sales.
